Construction for clients - legal duties

The introduction of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) increased the Client’s responsibilities for health and safety. For each project, they must appoint a competent Designers, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor. Also, they must produce a Client’s Brief, Pre-Construction Information and more. These duties apply to all projects.

This isn’t something that you should take on without knowing exactly what you need to do and when. This is when our team of construction experts can step in. Our advisors can provide a full compliance service that ensures the legal boxes are ticked and safety risks are managed.

  • Act as Principal Designer (as defined in CDM 2015).
  • Act as project managers.
  • Assist with the preparation of a Client’s Brief and Pre-Construction Information.
  • Complete statutory competency assessments on all parties working on the project.
  • Complete site inspections and audits to check the progress of the works and ensure that health and safety standards are being maintained.
  • Complete mandatory notifications, including the HSE - F10 - Notification of a Construction Project
  • Review contractor’s construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements and plans.

  • Provide training and support to help staff to achieve CSCS, CPCS and other qualifications.
  • Provide Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) Level 1 QCF equivalent course for Health & Safety in a Construction Environment (for those looking to get a Green CSCS card).
  • Provide on-site support. This includes completing site audits, presenting toolbox talks, accident/incident investigation and more.
